Winter

Winter was made feeling really frustrated, not getting anywhere. I felt so sick and tired of the standstill in my life, that I stabbed all my frustrations into the fabrics. However, looking at it some months later, I know that this period of winter hibernating, being locked in one place, gave birth to clearity and new positive decicions with the first rays of spring. So in a way, this picture also contains the wisdom that only a time of isolation can give you.

I have used scrap fabrics from silk, linen and cotton, plus beads. That patches are handstitched onto thick wool felt. The picture is stitched onto canvas, which is stapled across a wooden frame, ready to hang on the wall of your home.
